Capri's Cafe

CAPRI, Italy -We sat near the window at Capri’s Café, overlooking the water from a point near the center of Capri. This was not a cheap date, but this place was absolutely amazing. It was the kind of place that doesn’t make you feel like you’re on top of the world, but rather, that the rest of the world doesn’t exist from where you are.

After weeks of pasta and pizza, I decided it was time to treat myself to a steak. It was prepared medium well, how I like it, and the flavor was out of this world. I tried a bit of the Caprese salad, and it was evident that everything on the plate, from the oils to the garnishes were placed there for a reason. The food was an experience in itself.

We split a bottle of wine. Xander ordered a plate of seafood, which, I suppose would be an appropriate selection for our dinner on the blue island.

The highlight of the meal, however, was the Sicilian dessert that Xander ordered, the name of which we never got. Once he took a bit of it, he wanted nothing more to do with anything else on the table. “I’m in love,” he said of the dessert.

This was probably the best meal I’ve had since I arrived in Italy. I think I can go home now.

Kidding, of course.
